Bromham, Oakley and Clapham

Village life

Pubs, churches and primary schools, and Bedford only a few miles away.

Along the river

The Great Ouse winds past Bromham, Oakley and Pavenham, with good walks beside it.

Further north too

We also cover Milton Ernest, Sharnbrook and the villages towards the county border.

Renting and selling in the villages north and west of Bedford

North and west of Bedford, town gives way to villages quickly, and that’s exactly what a lot of our buyers and tenants are after.

Bromham is one of the larger ones, with its long old bridge over the Ouse and the watermill beside it. Oakley is smaller and quieter, a little further up the river. Clapham sits on the A6 just north of Bedford, so it’s handy for town while still feeling separate.

Go further out and you reach Milton Ernest on the A6, and Sharnbrook, which has its own secondary school, Sharnbrook Academy. These villages suit people who want more space or an older house with some character, and who don’t mind driving into Bedford.

Homes come up less often out here than in town, so if you’re looking, it’s worth getting in touch early.
