Renting and selling in Bedford

Bedford is home for us. The office is on St Cuthberts Street, so when you ring about a flat near the river or a semi in Goldington, there’s a good chance whoever picks up drove past it this morning.

The town covers a lot of ground for its size. Around Castle Road and De Parys you get Victorian terraces and conversions, ideal if you want to walk to work or the station. Brickhill, Putnoe and Goldington are quieter and more family-minded, with bigger gardens and buses back into town. Queens Park and the streets off Midland Road are usually better value.

A lot of people move here for the commute. Thameslink runs from Bedford through London St Pancras and on towards Gatwick and Brighton, and the A421 takes you to the M1 at Junction 13. Schools matter too: alongside its state primaries and secondaries, Bedford has a long tradition of independent schools.

For landlords, demand holds up all year. Commuters, staff at Bedford Hospital and students at the University of Bedfordshire’s Bedford campus all rent here.
