Living in Keysoe

Keysoe is about eight miles north of Bedford, in rolling farmland. It joined with Bolnhurst as a single parish in 1934, and takes in the hamlet of Keysoe Row.

It’s a horsey place. Keysoe International is a big equestrian centre and event venue, and teams trained there ahead of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. If you keep horses, or want to, there aren’t many better spots near Bedford.

The village primary is Kymbrook Primary School on Kimbolton Road, a small school with room for around a hundred children. The village hall is where the parish council meets, and the Chequers on Pertenhall Road has been a pub since at least 1783, with home-cooked food and a big garden.

The 28A bus runs to Bedford from Monday to Saturday, but this is driving country. Keysoe suits families and anyone after space, quiet and a proper rural community.
